Hello,
I have question, i have patient who came on 23.18 on 10th nov and discharge 00.50 on next calender date , this was trauma alert our physician who attend this patient in critical care unit but amount time our physician spent was 20 min and i know in order to bill critical code it should be 30min or more. what code should i bill for this service. Please help me. thanks- Megha :confused:

Per the Evaluation and Management guidelines " Critical care of less than 30 minutes total duration a given date should be reported with the appropriate E/M code" with that being said I would consider if the patient came through the Emergency Department to use 99284 or 99285.
