When patients come to our office for a consult for gallbladder and her symptoms are RUQ, bloating and the US shows gallstones. I have been told before never to code gallstones because it could just be a shadow on the report and you need a path report for final dx. So for the office visit I would code the RUQ and bloating. Some doctors think I should code gallstones for the office visit? Who do you agree with. If I don't code gallstones, should I code 793.6 for abnormal report?

Thanks for any help.
