Can someone please define Screening Col. - Est.Pts are calling
wanting to be scheduled for Screening Col as per their ins.Co. are
allowing screening Col per year (Ded.Not Met). Now they already
have an est.dx of diverticulosis but if we do not use the screening
code pt will have to pay deductible. Anyone else having this problem
as it seems to me it would still be a diagnostic Col. TIA for any
help (Also I would think screening would be like an initial Col. such as
baseline Mammo)?

screening colon

A screening colon is done usally at age 50 as a baseline. You can use the V76.51 code on for first time colons or one done every 10 years with no other diagnosis. Unfortunetly if they are having symptoms it's not a screening. If they have a family history of colon cancer in a first degree relative they can sometimes be seen prior to age 50, but again this is all dependant on their insurance and what they allow.
