Need some help on the use of V-codes for post op appointments. When the patient comes in for a post op appointment for stitch/suture removal how would that be coded?

you can use V58.32 encounter for suture removal with 99024.

If it is inside the post op period you would bill the 99024 with V58.32

If it is not inside the post op period and the sutures are being removed by ancillary staff you could bill a 99211 with the diagnosis of the initial procedure along with the V58.32.
For example biospy code 11100 does not have a post op period and so when the patient comes back to the office you could bill 99211 with the diagnosis that the path came back as well as V58.32.
