 Our Nurse Practioner saw a patient today and the MRI states "Partial avulsion of the anterior aspect of the tibial plateau at the insertion of the anterior cruciate ligament. HELP!!!!! In discussing this case with the doctor it was felt we could use internal derangement.....anyone out there that knows of a more specific diagnosis?????

Could be... but the ICD-9 states under Avulsion-Ligament= See Sprain by site... and of Joint or Cartilage = See Dislocation by site. I would use Sprain by site in this case... Sprain, Cruciate, anterior= 717.83. ;)
