Title of operation: Debridement of spacer and exchange
We began entering all levels, the fascial level which had been closed with PDS, the subcu was closed with 3-0 Monocryl and the deeper layers of the fascia were closed with Prolene. We removed all the sutures. There is a gray film of the stimulon throughout. We curetted this gray film away all thorughout the hip anteriorly and posteriorly around the vastus lateralis and around the tensor. Then we chipped away the methylemethacrylate which had been left in the socket and around the neck. We removed the broken screw from the acetabulum. The acetabulum was still very well fixed. We then again irrigated with 2 and 4 liters of Betadine, 2 liters of peroxide, 2 liters of Dakins and 4 liters of Dotys solution. Again curetted anything that looked suspicious and it was not much at that point.
Then we mad another spacer to go into the cup and stay around the neck. We allowed this to hold in position with the hip flexed at maybe 10 degrees and abducted about 20 in neurtal rotation. Once the cement was cured we then closed.
I am wanting to know if he did a partial revision of the hip? 27138??
