Good Morning! My question is this: If the physician sees a patient that has chest pain, cad, and copd but he notes that the patient has a history of afib that is currently in sinus rhythm do you still code the afib? As far as I know there isn't a V code for afib and patient is asymptomatic. Since there is no documentation that states this new visit is any way related to the Afib it has me pondering whether or not to add it to the claim. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

good morning.

if the afib is not currently monitored or treated (medications for afib prevention) i do not think it should be coded. but if there is then you should.
