Hi- If there are any pulmonary/sleep coders out there I have a question regarding the recent article about sleep studies done at home. The article lists temporary G-codes that are billable to Medicare, G0397-99 and states that what should be used to bill with and that 95800-06 should only be billed if the study is done within a lab. This is confusing-are the G-codes billable to Medicare only? Or can the G-codes be billed out to any insurance that will except them? Wouldn't coding guidelines direct you to use a permanent code such as the 95800-06 rather than a temporary code?
The codes used for polysomnography within a lab are 95810 or 95811. Were these the codes that perhaps the article meant to have listed as billed within the sleep lab?
Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on this.
Thank you,
Natalie S.
