If our provider saw and billed for and E/M visit for a patient in a facility (pos 31) in December, is now going to providing Home Visits (pos 12) is this considered a "New" patient visit ( because services are being provided in a different location/under different circumstances) or should they be billed as an "Established" patient? Thanks.

The home visits should be established patient. POS is not a factor when determining new vs. established. If the provider or anyone in his clinic in the same specialty saw the patient anywhere in the last 3 years, then it is established.

Hope this helps! :)
