I have two very specific questions. I work for a gastroenterology office that is a not owned by the hospital. We have one of our physicians on call at the hospital every week.
1) Medicaid will deny the initial inpatient hospital encounter if the hospital gets paid first. They state they will only pay for one initial hospital consult per hospital stay.
2) Today, same situation, but this time with a 99233 follow up code. All the 99231s and 99232s are getting paid just fine.
Any know of this issue or how to resolve it?
