We recently had a third party auditor come to our office and advised that we would be able to bill Medicare for technical components when one of our patients is admitted to the hospital while on hospice. Example, patient goes to hospital for xray, ct scan and is sent back home. Hospital will bill us for the services since they are related to the terminal diagnosis and then we can bill Medicare for those services with the -26 modifier. We have never done this or heard of this and so I wanted to see if it is possible and/or if anyone has done this?

Thanks,
