Recently our Nurse Practitioner has been dictating hospital consults. Per the CMS information under E&M guidelines, NP can only gather a portion of the visit such as social hx, medical hx, etc., but cannot do physical exam or A&P. Since it is electronically signed, physician's signature is not on the report, which provider do I bill this under? This is also same for Medicare patients. Since we no longer can use consult codes, must use initial admit codes, is the billing the same for NP as for the physician? Never mind, I found my answer. Thanks!
