my question is in regards to usage of modifiers AI and 25 Doctor W is the Internist (PCP)
Is it ok to bill as the following:
Doctor W saw the patient on 01/08/2011 cpt 99223 AI+25 and 99356 AI
01/09/2011 cpt 99233 AI
01/10/2011 cpt 99233 AI
01/11/2011 cpt 99233 AI
01/12/2011 cpt 99233 AI
01/13/2011 cpt 99239 AI

thank you for any feedback :)

Ai & 25

The use of the AI is to recognize the admitting physician (example 99223 AI)
The follow up visits do not require the AI modifier 99233, 99231.

When billing for a consultation I do not use the AI modifier as it is not required.

Modifier 25 is needed only if you have another procedure in addition to the hospital
Admit or visit

I hope this helps,
shan
