I am having an issue with denials from Wellcare/Staywell where they are denying initial obs/inpatient codes stating it was already billed and paid to another provider. I thought as long as it was not the same speciality it within the same practice the same CPT code be billed on the same day for hospital patients because they are seen by multiple physicians a day. Can anyone help me with this???
 
Some insurances follow CPT and some do not. Some only allow the attending physician to bill the initial codes; other physicians are to bill the followup day management codes even if it was their first time seeing the patient.
