If your provider performed the surgery and the pt was in the hospital for a condition related to the surgery, then no, you cannot bill for that service since it's part of the global package. If your provider is in a different specialty and did not perform the surgery, then yes, you can.

The physician who is billing for the discharge also needs to be the admitting doctor, so even if there was no global period unless the surgeon admitted the patient, they would not do the discharge.
