Hello,
For a dermatologist who sees patients in an outpatient clinic, but occasionally sees patients in the local hospital, I'm wondering how to code/bill that. For reference, the clinic and hospital are both in Utah and they are completely separate facilities.
I'm thinking it would be the 99252-99255 inpatient consult E&M codes (or the initial inpatient visit 99221-99223 if payer doesn't take consult codes), with POS 21.
However, I'm not sure what other changes I'd need to make on the CMS-1500 form (assuming I can still use that form)...
For example, would it still be billed under their regular outpatient clinic group NPI even though they're seeing the patient outside their regular clinic? And for the servicing facility address/NPI (item 32 section of the CMS-1500 form), how would I fill that out? I'm guessing I'd need to put the hospital address and hospital's NPI?
Thank you so much for your time, and help is really appreciated!!
