Do you use some kind of formula on how to price an unlisted? For example, some of our doctors perform a laparoscopic Whipple. Generally, what we do is take the work RVUs for the open version (48150) and multiply by certain amount to get the pricing plus maybe additional 25%. This results in more charge amount for laparoscopic than the open version. And this also makes sure that the doctor get at least the same wRVU for the lap procedure as the open when it comes to calculating their wRVU total at year-end. I know most, if not all, hospitals have incentive programs for doctors that could be based on RVUs so how do you account for wRVU of the unlisted codes?
