Can someone please tell me how do we bill a "Re-Consult"? I've never heard of this and was told you can. I would just bill it as a follow-up, but it there is such a thing (code), please let me know.

Dr. A was asked to consult a patient on 7/19/09, he did that. He followed-up with the same patient on 7/21/09. Now, Dr. A is saying she was asked to re-consult the patient 7/23/09. Wouldn't this just be another subsequent visit?

Thanks so much.

There used to be follow-up consult codes, but CPT deleted them a few years ago. I'd think you would just code the service on the 23rd as a subsequent visit.
