When an EKG is done in a clinic by a NP or physician and they read it as well I know you would code a 93000. However, what happens if the NP/physician does a read & then sends it on to a cardiologist to read it as well? Can the NP/physician as well as the cardiologist bill for the reading portion?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

If the cardiologist is of a different group and a over read was asked for, the cardiologist can bill using 93010. If they are in the same group, then I would not bill it a second time.
