When a patient fractures their distal Fibula and Tibia, what would the corrected DX and CPT code be? The physician's notes/xray results both say Fibula and Tibia distal shaft fractures. So i get confused on what point they are shaft fractures or distal fractures. Also, the physician casted the fractures in a long leg fiberglass cast.
I didn't know if it's appropriate to code the fracture separately 2278 and 27750? If I code them together I keep coming up with 27899 Unlisted procedure. Please help.

The FIRST thing I would do is clarify if the fractures are distal (malleolus) or shaft... That answer then drives the rest of the coding... If they are distal, then you have the options of medial malleolus, lateral malleolus, posterior malleolus or a combination of (bimalleolar or trimalleolar).
