The private pcp office I work for is struggling to get compounded betamethasone covered with any insurance or cms. Previously had been using J0702 for betamethasone Hcpcs, however the med we use is compounded. It started getting denied around May/June due to it being cmpd. We switched to using J7999 to show it was cmpd, added note to claim item to show different formulation of meds included in the cmpd med and attached information page from cmpd pharmacy that includes the ingredients and such. we are still getting denials and it is not very clear on why. Sometimes they will be accepted and paid, but not on most of them. We are struggling to find a way to get this covered as cmpd. The cmpd beta is significantly less expensive and we would prefer to continue using this version. Any advice would be appreciated on how to get this covered for previous claims and in the future.
