A new doctor in one of the practices I code for only use the terms controlled or uncontrolled to decribe HTN in the clinic notes. I have tried to explain the use of the terms benign and malignant but he won't change. Are the terms interchangeable? I have always been told no they aren't, does any body have any input or a place to fing guidelines on it. I have looked but found nada!
Thanks!

no, malignant and not controlled are not the same thing. Unless it is stated as benign or malignant it is coded to 401.9.

Not going to be a problem anymore in ICD-10 Benign and malignant code to the same code!

See-icd 10 can be a GOOD thing.
