Hi,

I have come across one scenario in which the HPI stated as "Pt has Hx of BPH and he is on Flomax. Past Hx-BPH, past Surgical HX-Not significant for BPH.

Impressions- Urinary retension, Hx of BPH

how can i code for this scenario? as along with BPH combo or separately with hx of bph Vcode.

Code 600.91 and 788.20 as the patient with Hx of BPH has urinary retention and taking Flomax currently.

600.01 and 788.20 should be used for BPH with urinary retention, 600.91 is unspecified hyperplasia of prostate, here it is BPH

Yes., You are correct.. That was a typo.. but BPH with retention (without abbreviation) can be coded as 600.01 or 600.21 followed with 788.20.
