Hi, I have a few questions for you all. Does anyone use hypnotherapy for pain management, for their patients?

1) For patients who are new to your practice, do you bill a new patient visit prior to beginning the hypnotherapy? (Since you have never seen the patients before, wouldn't you need some sort of E/M visit prior to the hypnotherapy to be certain it was safe for the patient to proceed with the therapy?)

2) If yes, what type of documentation do you typically have for this type of E/M visit? Does your physician document an HPI, ROS and P,F,S hx? Does your physician complete a comprehensive exam? And since a lot of discussion/couseling would need to take place, do you bill based on time?

3) Are you charging the patients, since most insurance carriers do not cover 90880? Or are you billing this visits as office visits?
