I am receiving mixed answers reguarding the following situation. A patient is infused with Cisplaitin and magnesium sulfate sequentally during an encounter. The Cisplaitin was for the type of cancer. The magnesium sulfate was for hypomagnesemia (275.2).
The magnesium sulfate is not premixed. It is mixed by our pharm tech after it is received in our facility. It is probable that the hypmagnesemia was caused by the chemotherapy treatment.

Please help! Would the magnesium sulfate be coded as therapeutic or hydration. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.
