I have two incisions and drainage of vulvar cysts. One of the cysts thick white fluid was drained out and the other pink/prurulent material was extruded, most of the lump is hard tissue rather than pus. Does this mean that they were abscesses and I should go with 56405 rather than 10060? Thank you!

Hello,
you wouldn't read into it as abscess but if you path or index I&D, site(vulva) the correct code is 56405 just one
just remember that the 10060 is for skin and subq
in this case site is more specific
in the CPT book above code 56405 states (for I&D of sebaceous cyst, furuncle, or abscess, see 10040, 10060, 10061)
