Is this scenario an excision or 10040-I&D.
Patient has a sebacous cyst on the rt. side of his face he would like to have removed. Prepped and draped. Through a sterile technique, I did an elliptical excision, removed the entire cyst intact, put in one suture with restoration of anatomy and good hemostasis. Thanks.
 
I agree it is an excision--however with the new 2010 cpt changes for skin excisions size of cyst and depth of removal should have been documented to properly code this excision
