I quick question regarding IABP. This if from the cath lab perspective. Should the lab charge for IABP removal (33968) if they are called up to the floor to remove an IABP with the physician instead of the ICU nurse.

In my previous place of employment the cath lab only charged/coded the removal if it was done in the Cath Lab never had to go to the floor to remove one this was always done by the physician and the patient's nurse.

So if the cath lab staff are called to assist in the removal should the cath lab staff charge/code for the removal of the IABP or will that be consider part of the patients floor charges?

I would be interested in your thoughts.
