What ICD 10 codes do I use for the following:
1) pt was discharged from the hospital 2 weeks ago following an acute MI involving the anteriolateral wall.
2) He now presents to the office for a f/u of his MI and evaluation of hypercholesterolemia and hypertension.

There is no other information given for this scenario.

Thanks

The first or “initial” AMI will be represented by a code from category I21.-. Coders will assign a code from category I22.- to identify a “subsequent AMI” within a four-week time frame (regardless of site)

MI

Beth,
There was only the initial MI. This visit if for a F/U of the hospital stay. So is a code from I22 still needed?
I am confused. I thought the I22 code was for if a patient had a second MI within the 4 week time frame.

Please can someone clarify on this scenario.
