I am working on a project where I have several ICD-10 codes that I need to map to an ICD-9 code. I cannot find the ICD-9 code anywhere!

The codes are underdosing of medications - here is an example:
underdosing of penicillins, initial encounter. The I-10 code is T360X6A or T36.OX6A (with the decimal)

Can anyone help me locate the corresponding or root code in ICD-9? Is it possible that ICD-10 are created where there were no ICD-9 codes?

thanks,
Janice Morrow, CPC

It is not possible to map every ICD-10 CM code to an ICD-9 code . In the example you have provided there is no equivalent code to under dosing

Hi

Have you considered using E8738? It's not perfect but it may work depending on how you want to use it.

I recently completed an ICD10 coding course and this was one of the examples where there is no corresponding ICD9 code. It will be difficult for us to provide trending reports initially, but hopefully in 2015 and beyond our comparisons and trends will be accurately matched.
