so what are your thoughts on Pediatric patients and smoking status?

example: 8 mo old w/ bilateral ear infection (of any sort) - do you code no exp to smoke or exp to secondhand smoke?

example: 17 year old with URI - do you code smoking sts or exp to smoke (positive or negative)?

thx for your replies, and if in guidelines, can you direct me - the only thing I found was yes, code it....

Use additional = If Applicable. If there is none of the tobacco dx apply you just don't report it as an additional code.
