My instructor told us when ICD-10 came, we would need to take a test for AAPC to prove our competency (since my test was ICD-9 at that time). Do I need to take some sort of testing through AAPC to keep my CPC? I never got notification to this effect or know about any AAPC test.

I did study ICD-10 through my work and we had to pass an exam through them (an AHIMA course).

I'm just confused as to whether I need to pass any ICD-10 test to keep my CPC.

Thanks.

Yes this website explains this to you if you go look under the ICD-10 info. You have until December to take and pass the ICD-10 proficiency exam. It is an on- line test that you may take at home and it is timed at 3.5 hours. The cost is $60.

Yes, everyone with an AAPC certification must pass the ICD-10-CM by December. You can review the information under AAPC.com and the ICD-10-CM tab. It is $60 with 75 multiple choice test questions and $60 with 2 tries if needed. Good luck!
