Good afternoon,
Can someone tell me the appropriate ICD code for “direct, operative laryngoscopy for removal of button lodged in 2-year-old child’s larynx?” I need clarification.
Thank you!

ICD codes are diagnosis codes dependent on the documented reason for the procedure. What you posted is a procedure that would be coded using a CPT code.

Wouldnt this part qualify as reason for procedure? removal of button lodged in 2-year-old child’s larynx

I'm a student and this was a question on my homework. My teacher insists it should be T17.308A "Unspecified foreign object in larynx causing other injury" but I think it should be T17.398A "Other foreign object in larynx causing other injury" since it states the object was a button." He response doesn't make any sense to me. Thank you! "Removal of button lodged in 2-year-old child’s larynx"
