I recently graduated in July of this year and my course included only ICD-10 coding. A lot of jobs are still asking for ICD-9-CM experience. I have purchased a book but is there any way I can prove I am proficient, such as a test.

Are they asking you personally if you have ICD-9 experience? I am wondering if you are you looking at outdated job descriptions?

It is HCC coding so I would be abstracting from charts before and after October 1,2015 and using both ICD-9 and ICD-10. Crazy I know. I didn't expect this to be an issue.

They asked me for proof of ICD-9 proficiency. My CPC exam of course tested me for ICD-10 and my online final showed ICD-10 proficiency proof.

Correct HCC is retrospective so ICD-9 is still used. I'm not aware of an ICD-9 proficiency exam, the one i'm aware of is the ICD-10 proficiency exam
