Can someone tell me what icd9 you would suggest for elevated gastrin levels?

Hi,
Gastrin is a peptide hormone that stimulates secretion of gastric acid (HCl) by the parietal cells of the stomach and aids in gastric motility, so it is a abnormality in pancrease. You can code other disorder of pancrease.

Hope this helps...

No you cannot code for disorder of the pancreas for elevated gastrin levels. You may not code based on lab results at all. If the provider documents that the gastrin levels were elevated then you may code for abnormal lab but that is all. The provider must be the one to diagnose the patient with a pancreatic disorder before it can be coded, the coder is not qualified to render a diagnosis based on a lab value.
