I am new to Radiation Oncology coding and having trouble reconciling literatures from ASTRO and the CPT manual, even NCCI edits.
According to ASTRO CPT 77387 IGRT is included in the SRS and SBRS treatment, yet the CPT manual states that the 77387 Professional Component is not bundled into SBRS Treatment delivery 77373.
Does this mean we can bill 77387-26 for the days the 77373 is being billed but cannot bill 77387-26 on the date the weekly treatment management CPT 77435 is reported?
Other experts do state in general the IGRT guidance 77387-TC should not be billed with IMRT,SRS, and SBRS. The professional component of IGRT may be billed with IMRT and standard beam treatment delivery. (did not include SBRS was it intentionally omitted).
Also the NCCI edits do not bundled 77387 and 77373.
ASTRO would say one thing but Medicare keeps paying the codes.
Any clarification would help.
