When a condition is documented as aute AND chronic, which code does it default to? The acute code or the chronic code? Help please!! :o
 
If I am reading the Guidelines correctly, I believe the acute is coded first. It is Appendix I, Section I, B, number 10. Acute and Chronic Conditions.
