We have providers billing non-implant supplies under revenue code 0278. Some providers are reimbursed additional for this revenue code. I am questioning if HCPCS code C1880 for vena cava filter should be billed as an implant? I understand it stays in the body, but it isn't an implant like what I think of for orthopedic surgeries, eyes, breast implants, etc. We are also being questioned with Heartmate devices being billed as an implant. This would be allowed under a different supply code but ?? 0278.
