In the past, I had been told about the "HOG" rule when coding for diabetes...that hypoglycemia, osteomyelitis and gangrene in diabetic patients are assumed to be complications. Today, I was told to add Impotence to that list but I cannot find any information to confirm this. Can anybody help me?

You cannot assume any complication with diabetes they must be stated as causal to the diabetes by the provider, check the coding guidelines on diabetes.
