Our center currently bills for the second IMRT plan, 77301, when medically necessary. This information was given to us by a radiation oncology consultant during an audit/training session. Yesterday, we had another consultant tell us that we are not to be billing for this second plan.
I could not find anything in our LCD policy or ACRO guidelines, addressing if or if it is not acceptable or allowable to bill a second plan, if necessary.
I recieved something regarding a seminar given by Cindy Parman regarding billing for the second plan. We are having a phone conference next week and I am hoping someone has documentation stating when and if it is appropriate to bill a second IMRT plan.
