In Patient Consult performed by Attending

I have a problem. One of our providers is the attending physicain on a in-patient account. The provider submitted a consult which resulted in a procedure. I believe this is a conflict of interest. How can the attending also do a consult? I need supporting documentation to support either concept!!! Any answers.
