I am new to GI coding. The intent was to do a complete colonoscopy. However the physician was unable to go further than the proximal descending colon due to severe diverticulosis. He did take several biopsies. CPT 45380-52??? I will appreciate any insight that you all may offer to me.
Thanks, Brenda

I work Ambulatory surgery. The Dr. did not reach the splenic flexure and with the new colonoscopy tree you would bill a flex sig with BX 45331 with no modifier. The tree is located on page 284 of the AAPC ICD-9 code book.
