I need some help in coding for the placement of a french savory dilator by one of my physicians during a hernia repair being done by another surgeon. Now we are called in frequently to do these dilations, but in the instance we just placed the dilator but did not do the dilation or remove it, the surgeon doing the hernia repair removed equipment. Can I bill the 43248 with a 52 for reduced services:confused:
 
Did your doctor also do an EGD? Because if not I believe you can bill 43453 for just a dilation. As far as not doing the dilation if he also did an EGD i'm not sure. It could be in between adding the 52, 53, or charging 43235 for just an EGD.
 
yes dr did an EGD and placed the dilator, I was going to put a 52 on the 43248, just thougt i would get a few more opinions
