We just picked up a heart surgeon. Does anyone know any good websites/books that would help me learn coding for this specialty? Not sure what type of surgery he does...but I will see and want to be ready.

Have you tried looking at the Cardiology Study Guide offered by the AAPC?

Definitely get the "Cardiology/Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery Coding Companion" by Ingenix. I also recommend the Society of Thoracic Surgeons' website www.sts.org. They have a coding workshop coming up in October that I find VERY helpful every year. If you can swing it, its in San Diego. Info is on their website.

I haven't really used any other books. I do google things sometimes and I have asked other coders their opinions on things. If you ever need help or just have a question, feel free to email me at work (or here). I've been coding for CT surgery for about 4 yrs and I think I know what I'm doing :)
