How does everyone bill for Inhaler Instruction/Demonstration? Can this be performed by the nurse? Any feed back with code 94664? Any billing reimbursement issues? Thanks!!

Inhaler billing

Yes. We have billed 94664 and we are receiving pymt. Check with the fee schedule of the provider that you deal with. We are not getting paid for pulse ox's.

Hello
This code that you have suggested to be used are you using it with an E&M code as well or are you using only the 94664? What diagnosis have you used to cover this code?

Thanks
Elizabeth

inhaler coding

Hello,

I don't remember the Newsletter I got this info from. It was in one of the coding Edges..

If a breathing treatment is performed and the nurse or tech educates/shows on how to do it, both codes can be coded.

94640 and 94664w/59 modifier.

I have a list of payable dx for the pulse ox at work. Will send you the medicare short cut Monday...

Hope this helps :)

We also use the 94664 for inhalation teaching. You can report an E/M service with the 94664 is separately identifiable. Be sure to append midifier 25 to your E/M code.
