Our current flow is that a provider does a compete assessement (non-medical) on the initial encounter and bills for 90791. And the end of the assessment, the counselor shares the recommendation and sends them home with something to do like journaling ... For example:
"SEC-N RECOMMENDATIONS\INITIAL TREATMENT GOALS
>>RECOMMENDATIONS\INITIAL TREATMENT GOALS: Indiv counseling 2 times month for treatment of depressed mood"
At the next encounter (after supervising MD has approved plan), the counselor builds the goals and targets with the patient input to have buy-in for the counseling services and participation as the initial plan of care as required by our state medicaid program.
What cpt service code applies at this visit -- 90832 type code?
I have searched multiple resources and can not find the clarification I am looking for.
