I have a guestion regarding subsequent hospital care. My provider admmited a patient on Monday and on Tuesday did a incision and drainage of vulva abscess 56405. The patient remained in the hospital for four more days after the procedure because she is a diabetic and has hypertension she needed additional monitoring. My provider said that we would not get paid for the visits past the procedure because it is considered part of the post op care. I have looked all over the surgical guidelines and did not see that inpatient services would not be covered after a procedure. Please advise.

If it is within the global period, then no, you would not bill for the subsequent visits, unless they were totally unrelated to the procedure, which I doubt in this case they were.
