I haven't been able to find anything on this. What CPT code series would you use for a chiropractor who is seeing patients in an inpatient setting? The patients often come in with significant physical residuals from their issue and the services provided by the chiropractor has been shown to be helpful in their treatment. But obviously, they need an E/M to evaluate history, perform an exam, determine treatment plan, etc.

Choices I've seen are:

9922x (CPT guidelines indicate ONLY for admitting physician)
9923x (CPT guidelines indicate ONLY for admitting physician)
9925x (note: there are no Medicare patients)

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I would check and make sure that your state allows a chiropractor to see patients in an inpatient setting. This may not be in the chiropractor's scope of practice. I would then check with each insurer to see if they allow a chiropractor to submit this type of billing. I know that Medicare does not allow chiropractors to order or refer services. If treating inpatients is within their scope of practice, then I would refer to the 99231-99233 or 99252-99255 range of codes.
