Inpatient hospital consults

I need clarification on whether our physicians can bill for an initial hospital/observation service at the hospital. We are an infectious disease private practice that have privileges' with the hospital.

Is your physician the admitting physician- Yes you should be billing initial/observation codes (99221-99223) with AI Modifier

Is your physicians the consulting provider? Base on the insurance- Yes you can also bill initial/obs codes
