My podiatrist is getting denied for billing CPT 99223 stating these services are not covered by this type of a provider. I cannot find anything on the website from CMS that states a podiatrist can't bill for an inpatient hospital care. Is this because he is a DPM and not MD? If so any suggestions what code to use? Thanks.

Could a podiatrist really justify billing a level 3 admit just on the MDM of high alone seems doubtful. But it seems I read somewhere that Medicare only covers MD and DO for physician services.
